Mini Dental Implants

Mini dental implants or mini implants for short are becoming very popular lately for several reasons:

The most common reason is price.  People that cannot afford their treatment with regular dental implants can get a loose lower denture stabilized by mini implants for half the price of regular implants.

Another reason is comfort.  Mini dental implants do not require surgery, as they are placed through the gums without cutting and peeling the gums away from the bone, so there is much less discomfort after the procedure.

A third reason is that the procedure is simple and efficient. It is started and finished in only one visit, so the patient comes in with loose dentures and leaves with dentures that now are held by implants.

Patients who are at risk for a stroke and are on anticoagulants that the physician is unwilling to discontinue for a surgical procedure can have the mini implants placed, as the dentist does not have to cut the gums.

The following is a short description of the procedure for those that are interested:

The lower denture should fit well, if not, it needs to be relined to make it fit.
The dentist takes the necessary x-rays and records to evaluate the bone.
The day of the procedure 4 mini implants are placed in the front of the lower jaw.
The mini implants are placed through the gums without surgery (less discomfort after the procedure).
The denture is fitted with attachments that help hold it in place more securely.
The dentist checks the bite and the procedure is complete.

  1. need minis for lower denture…what would be the cost

  2. Dental implants are used to replace lost or extracted teeth. It is the best solution for this problem, for several reasons. If taken care of, these implants can last for a long time, they allow you to keep the bone which would otherwise be lost after an extraction, they avoid damaging the adjacent teeth with dental bridges, and they are the most ideal replacements for natural teeth.

  3. Last month I had a dental implant surgery. The cost of that surgery was around US $14,000. Mini dental probably would have costed less. The cost of mini dental implants supporting denture is a lot less. Therefore people can easily afford such cost for their implant surgery. You have nicely pointed out a few more things which people can avail through mini dental implant. Thanks for your informative post.
